Vilamoura
25.08.2009
Well as we are stranded for the next 3 weeks awaiting parts we have decided to have a rest! Have ambled down the coast to Vilamoura for a few days. It is very much a tourist resort and greatly expanded since our last foray here 20+ years ago. Marina holds 1000 boats and we are in amongst the gas guzzling cruisers and the beautful people. (they got that wrong!) I hung the washing on the line today just to keep the right tone! Anyway won’t post any news for a bit until hopefully the anchor motor is fitted and the antenna is rotating.
31st August
Now back in Portimao and planning the trip back home, what to take what to clothes wise etc. We have a taste of whats to come weatherwise. Today is cloudy with smirr BUT still v warm c. 23c at 11 am. Awaiting the radar man again. I wasn’t impressed on friday but I’m assured that he knows what the problem is, Raymarine have the parts and he will fix it. Still no sign of the anchor motor.
Jo is coming out for a week when we get back and we are looking forward to that. We hope to get as far as Cadiz in the east but it will depend, both on weather and how much sunbathing is required.
It is getting quiet on the marina now that August holiday season is passed. Still a few of the hardy types from northern europe but the Portugese seem to be lifting out and heading home.
