propulseur d’etrave son arrivee

Glad to report that things are looking good for a departure from Lorient tomorrow. The chandlers at the marina has been absolutely superb and having sourced the required mother board for the bow thruster in Marseille and ordered it, acquired it today. The ulitmate pessimists we are saw no point in going up early as couriers don’t arrive till at least lunchtime. We really thought it would be tomorrow. However much to John’s delight the young lady had it ready and waiting for him. He has fitted it and all appears well regarding the bow thruster. This being the case we can hopefully safely manouver into the fuel berth before departing in the morning.

The day howevr was not without issue. John spent the morning continuing his work inprogress on the water maker. I hosed decks etc. Lots of boats coming and going and the usual buzz about the place. Next thing there were shouts and roars as a boat 2 down came out in reverse at full throttle, got caught in the tide and was blown into the yachts all lined up in a row. He missed the first one, caught our flag pole in his shrouds, bent it loose before heading into next boat. By this time the man next door had seen what was happening and managed to fend him of. Ooolala!! Well actually those were not the words I was heard to utter. A most apologetic young girl came running up the pontoons asking everyone was their boat o.k. John fortuanetly managed to straighten the pole and assured her it was fine. Poor lass looked quite thru ither. Needless to say as new boats arrived on the berths beside us today we were ready to fend of and help tie them in fast.

Forecast showing no sign of gales in next few days so hopefully the next entry will be from somwhere in Northern Spain.
